6 Shows You Gotta Watch While #StayingHome

Right now our world is looking a bit different. When we imagined ourselves going into a new decade (especially the 20s) I'm sure we didn't expect it to start out like this. But as our world continues to change, and new TikTok dances emerge. Might as well find some beauty in the madness and get our binge-watching on.

Here are 6 shows you gotta watch!

1. Love is Blind (Netflix)

Seasons: 1 Episodes: 10 + Reunion episode

Honestly, I was skeptical about Love is Blind at first. I don't watch many dating shows like The Bachelor/The Bachelorette or Love Island. Why? Having to watch the person you want to be with basically dating your competition before they decide that you actually are the one they want. Not my cup of tea.

BUT, when I started watching Love is Blind I was intrigued. Essentially this cast was asked to speed date without EVER getting to see the person. To then ultimately find the person, they want to marry. Did I mention they only had 10 days to do this? That takes some serious dedication, that I could not have.

So I was happy to watch them do it from home.

2. Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker (Netflix)

Seasons: Limited Series Episodes: 4

One of the top shows in the U.S. right now. Self Made will remind you that you can do anything and be whoever you want to be in this world. But of course, not without a fight. If any of you are history buffs then the name Madam C.J. Walker is a name you already know.

What I loved most about this series was how raw and honest it was. I did not know her name prior to this, (may my blackness not be ruined for not knowing). Learning about her struggle with hair, jealously and men feeling superior over her it reminded me to not let Madam down. She didn't let anyone stop her from getting where she wanted to be. She made history by being the first African-American woman in 1918 to be a millionaire.

In 2020 us women all need to continue to carry that same energy.

3. Euphoria (HBO)

Seasons: 1 Episodes: 8

Ok so, I know I'm a bit late to the game here with this one. What can I say, I'm a Netflix type at heart. But I will also admit I wasn't sure if I would be into this show. From the way it came off to me, it was about some kids doing some hard drugs and dealing with some crazy teenage drama. Then again, I'm a fan of 13 Reasons Why so I figured why not.

Personally, what I loved most about this show was the cinematography. I was truly astounded by the way the cameras captured moments. It made you feel like you were there. Capturing their thoughts and making it so clear that you were in their minds with them. Not many shows, I've watched have done that so huge applause to the production team aka. #Drake.

4. All American (The CW)

Seasons: 2 Episodes: 10 per season

This show truly hits all kinds of teen/family drama. From pregnancies, depression and anxiety, racism, the desire for one's approval, you name it All American's got it. Based on a true story, the main character Spencer James, a star high school football player in his hometown gets the opportunity to play for one of the best high school teams in Southern California. Against all odds, Spencer realizes he will face a lot of hate from not just the rich kids of Beverly Hills but also from the people in his community.

5. Elite (Netflix)

Seasons: 3 Episodes: 8 per season

This show I just started on Netflix and yes it is another one of those teenage dramas. What I like about it is a Spanish TV Show. Thankfully, Netflix is language inclusive it not only provides English subtitles but also English voice-overs. What I enjoy about this show is the lies and the deception. Not sure why, but it just really makes you think damn I can't wait to see how this plays out!

6. 100 Humans: Life Questions. Answered. (Netflix)

Seasons: 1 Episodes: 8

Another show I just started watching, but definitely is a fun one especially while #stayinghome. This show asks some really strange yet interesting questions to a group of you guessed it, 100 humans. But they aren't just answering questions on a piece of paper. You get to watch as a group of 100 humans perform certain tasks to uncover why do the things we do. For example, do men who have better dance moves have a higher sperm count?

Well, you may have never asked yourself that, but this show uncovers whether or not this is true or not!

Happy Binge Watching Y'all!

Let me know what you think of some of these shows if you are or have watched them!
